Heard it thru the grapevine....

Wow. What a night. The historical society just opened a new exhibit using Will Vinton's own collection of stuff. It takes you thru the whole process, from script to story boards, to final product. Very fun. Kids will love it. Check out the info here: http://ohs.org/exhibits/current/the-amazing-world-of-claymation.cfm

Two unfortunate things. Not enough time for Q&A and the museum store was not open.
Of course this is going to count on my 150 list. I know I go to OHS all the time. But, it's a new exhibit AND it was a photo op. So there.

Notice the wagon in the background.... It's a Meier & Frank wagon but the OHS staff member I talked to didn't think it would be up to making the wagon train journey.... Bummer.
The bench below is my favorite thing at the museum. I need to get my dad to make me one. Riiiiight.

So, after that we noticed the art museum was still open, and since it was early, we hopped on in there. This is the last weekend of the art in the age of Madame de Pompadour. Here's the link for that: http://portlandartmuseum.org/exhibitions/feature/La-volupt-du-got-French-Painting-in-the-Age-of-Madame-de-Pompadouruseum.org/exhibitions/feature/La-volupt-du-got-French-Painting-in-the-Age-of-Madame-de-Pompadour

Really great stuff--lots of naked chubby baby bits. And nipples. Their museum store was still open--I think it's the best museum store I've been in. Even beats some of the Smithsonian shops.

And I did take an illegal picture inside the exhibit. But without flash... And not of an actual painting.... I love exhibits with interpretation entitled: What is an official mistress?
Just in case you ever wondered. I won't spoil it for you. But, it seems like a good idea.... Should one ever hook up with a King or something...
So, two more events to add to the list. 142 more sites to go!
Up next week: Chinatown, a hike (possibly mit dog), and I think a new cheese shop I haven't been to. Should be fabulous!
