Oregon is 150 this year. The Governor issued a challenge. Prove you're an Oregonian by visiting sites in Oregon, submit photographic proof, and then he'll send you a "I am Oregonian" certificate. Woo-Hoo! How much fun is that going to be?
I have been waiting weeks for the challenge to be issued. I was checking the web site every other day and was geared up to visit 150 places. Afterall, it is Oregon's 150th birthday!
Imagine my disappointment when the day arrived.... The Gov only wants you to pick FIVE places in Oregon. FIVE.
And, they have to fall in 5 categories (Foodie Stuff, Outdoorsy Stuff, Events, Attractions, Your Choice).
And, at least two regions of the state must be represented in your five items (Portland Metro, Willamette Valley, Oregon Coast, Southern Oregon, Mt. Hood/Columbia River Gorge, Central Oregon and Eastern Oregon).
Screw you, Gov. I am more Oregonian than that.
To prove it, I am going to visit 150 sites.
Yep, 150, because it is the SESQUICentennial (which in this instance means 150). (Do you also hear the happy little elf singing in the background whilst Jude Law narrates this entry for me?)
And, just to play along with your little PR game, I will make sure each of the 5 categories are somewhat equally represented. And, I'll also make sure each of the 7 regions are also somewhat equally represented.
And I'll take photographic proof.
And I'll submit it to you.
And, you'll dub me the Bestest Oregonian of Them All.
I guarantee!
I better hurry up. It's already May. Not much of the Sesquicentennial left!
